Comments are open on this site because readers often know things we do not, that a listing is out of date, that a number has changed hands, that an approach doing the rounds is a scam. This page explains how comments are handled, what gets removed, and how to get a comment of yours taken down.
Comments are moderated before they appear
A comment does not go live the moment you post it. It waits until someone has read it. That is slower than you would like, and it is deliberate: an unmoderated comment section on a dating site fills with phone numbers, scam approaches and abuse within days.
Most legitimate comments are approved. If yours has not appeared, it is usually waiting, not refused, and if it was refused, it will be for one of the reasons below.
What is removed
- Phone numbers and contact details
- Including your own. Numbers posted publicly on dating pages are harvested within hours and used for scam calls and impersonation. This is the most common reason a comment is refused, and it is refused even when the person posting meant no harm.
- Anyone else’s private information
- Addresses, workplaces, identity numbers, family details, car registrations, private photographs, or screenshots of private conversations.
- Payment requests and money talk
- Asking readers to send anything, offering to pay for contact, or advertising a payment route. Our prices live on the pricing page and nowhere else; a payment instruction in a comment did not come from us.
- Explicit material
- Graphic sexual description or imagery. These pages open on phones in public; keep it readable.
- Abuse and threats
- Insults, harassment, intimidation, blackmail, and content attacking someone for their tribe, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or appearance.
- Advertising and repetition
- Promoting an unrelated business or service, link dropping, and the same message posted across several pages.
- Invented praise
- Fake testimonials and manufactured success stories, including flattering ones about us. A review that did not happen is worth nothing to a reader deciding whether to trust this site.
- Anything involving a minor
- Removed immediately and escalated, without exception.
What makes a comment worth posting
The useful ones are specific. “This listing is out of date, the number has been disconnected since last month” helps every reader who arrives after you. “A man using these photographs asked me for fare money to travel to a meeting” helps even more. General complaints and one-word reactions help nobody, including you.
Disagreement is welcome. Disagreement aimed at a person rather than at what they said is not.
What happens to your details
When you comment, WordPress stores the name and email address you typed, the comment, your IP address and your browser’s user agent string. Your name and comment are published if approved. Your email address and IP address are never published. The privacy policy sets out how long each of these is kept.
Getting a comment removed
You can ask for your own comment to be deleted at any time, and we will do it without asking why. Use the contact page and tell us which page the comment is on and roughly what it said, so we can find it.
If someone else’s comment is about you, your number, your photograph, your name, tell us through the report form. That route reaches the same people with the page link already attached, which makes it faster.
If your comment did not appear
- Give it time. Moderation is done by a person, not continuously.
- Check it against the list above. A phone number anywhere in the comment is the usual cause.
- Post it again without the detail that broke the rule. You do not need to contact us first.
- Ask us if it still does not appear. Occasionally a legitimate comment is caught by the spam filter, and we would rather know.
We do not publish everything, we are not obliged to, and we will not debate an individual moderation decision at length. What we will do is apply the same list to everyone.
